The Vibe: White, Organic, slightly off dry, pine nuts, lime zest, honeycomb, sweet pastry
Friends Would Say: Something old and something new, a balance between crisp and bohemian. The classic grape known as pinot blanc has been on the scene for many a year, but grown in Austria they call it Weissburgunder. Due to the colder climate this old fav takes on a leaner, steely and crisp quality as opposed to its counterpart in France which can often be more fatter and textural. Expect this sharp snappy Austrian wine to pack great acidity with fresh lime zest and cut grass, balanced off with a wonderful nutty and sweet pastry ending, the whole set menu please!
The First Date: In Germany and Austria they have different names for the grapes so even though they may sound totally obscure they are actually old classics. Just a bit of prep for you, this is how you say their name properly: (“We-sss-burg-under”)
The Banter: This wine is biodynamic, 100% Pinot Blanc, just off dry but not sweet, has lots of wild fruits ranging from limey notes to some exotic mango. This is Judith Beck's entry level welcome wine which is open, lively and clean. The natural vibes gives this wine a complex nose with floral geranium and dried leaves.
Techy Bits: Judith Beck, Austria, biodynamic, 100% Pinot Blanc (Weissburgunder ), 11.0% a.b.v, 750ml, vintage 2018
